Peonies, Posies, and Pansies, Oh my!
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. . . or so the saying goes. So, what looks like a ranunculus but is not?
I have begun researching florists and have been told (well, my mother was since she was sweet enough to call some florists as well) that my beloved peonies and ranunculus are in season in the spring time. Say it isn't so! Wouldn't these be darling to go along with our "vintage" theme?

So, I set off to the California Cut Flower Commission's website. More specifically, to their super extensive Seasonal Availability guide. Of course, this is mainly for California flowers, but their database of information is a handy tool for any bride no matter her geographic location. Their awesome website lets you search by flower or by month!
Did you let availability influence your wedding flowers? Or did you fly in those beautiful blooms from South America because you couldn't have anything else? Where did you do your research when choosing your flowers?

mmmm... i LOVE ranunculus & peonies. have you ever seen David Austin (olde english) roses? they have hundreds of petals too! i LOVE full flowers.
most of these types of flowers are in season through aug/sept. but of course if you're willing to pay for it you can get any flower any time of the year.
i'm a big believer in the meaning/tradition of things. it makes me shudder when i see cala lillies at weddings since they're traditionally a symbol of death. so those things come into play when i'll be choosing flowers (ie. i can't stand carnations but will probably work in a few white ones as remembrance of our fathers)
good luck with your flowers! i can't recommend ranunculus enough... their shading is so pretty!
